Fox10 Kari Lake’s last on-air appearance was Christmas Day in 2020. Her absence concerned her viewers but in January Kari tweeted a statement which included a brief explanation:
Since the beginning of January I have been out on health leave using FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act). I have not been fired, demoted, reprimanded, etc. I remain a 20+ year employee at Fox in good standing.
I will leave it at that–preferring to keep some things private. For those of you that are concerned about me, please don’t worry. I will be fine….
Then early this week, Lake announced her resignation. Her brief media explains her reasons.
“It really got difficult for me when Covid hit,” Lake said. “I felt the stories I was reading were not fully truthful. The cancel mob’s insistence that certain Covid- related stories not be told or even whispered, while others were told over-and-over made me feel as if I was not giving a balanced view of the situation to viewers.
“I became a journalist to be helpful, not harmful, but some of the stories I was reading likely contributing to the fear and division—and I couldn’t do that anymore. I prayed a lot for guidance—asking God to lead me in the right direction,” she said. (Arizona Daily News Network)
Lake expresses the difficulty of leaving but emphasizes her commitment to truth. “I promise you, if you hear it from my lips, it will be truthful.”
It is unclear if her co-host, John Hook, will continue without her.
